WE CAN PICTURE THIS, BECAUSE IT'S ALL AROUND US.

  • Here in Virginia, one out of every ten residents is a veteran.
  • Here in Virginia and regionally, our neighbors have experienced unemployment from the decline of the coal industry and jobs sent overseas.
  • Here in Virginia, families are struggling to find ways to send their kids to college without breaking the bank, even as the average tuition at our public, four-year state colleges has increased by nearly 47% in the past decade.

There are no easy answers to these challenges. But a group is coming together with an innovative approach to building a workforce ecosystem ready to train up skilled workers. It’s called the CCAM/RBC Advanced Manufacturing Academy in Prince George County, Virginia, and its focus is to grow our local economy by:

MANUFACTURING INNOVATIONS DEMAND A SKILLED WORKFORCE

Advanced manufacturing – the use of new technology to improve products and processes – has dramatically changed the face of the industry with the introduction of:
advanced materials | new production capabilities

And disruptive innovations in:
automation | robotics | fully integrated production systems

Manufacturing jobs of the 21st century offer an attractive employment option and are shattering the stereotype of factory work as dank, dark and dangerous. Today, workers can join a cutting-edge, technology-driven industry and work in state-of-the-art facilities that are clean, bright and safe.

ADVANCING THE VISION

The CCAM/RBC Advanced Manufacturing  Academy will galvanize leaders from industry, academia and government to build a bridge that brings people into the advanced manufacturing workforce.

The Academy curriculum centers on mechatronics, robotics, and machining and certification will align to industry standards. Courses will be led by world-class instructors, utilizing the latest advanced manufacturing equipment and technologies

“EARN-WHILE-YOU-LEARN”

The current process around training factory-ready workers is broken. The Academy’s “earn-while-you-learn” training model takes a fresh approach to apprenticeship. Participants will take part in structured classroom and virtual instruction, as well as paid, hands-on apprenticeships with local employers and pursuit of industry-recognized certificates or credentials. This 360-degree approach puts CCAM/RBC apprentices in the best position to land a job upon graduation.

INDUSTRY-DRIVEN

Potential employers will have direct involvement in the training process leading to an organic opportunity for long-term job placement. Each student is paired with an employer sponsor upon entering the Academy, with goal of transitioning trainees into full-time positions at those companies when their training is complete.

ccam-thank-you

“The CCAM/RBC Advanced Manufacturing Academy will create solid, middle class jobs for Virginians and boost economic development for the Commonwealth. And as Virginia stands up a more robust, qualified manufacturing workforce, more businesses will choose to invest here.”

- William Powers, CEO, CCAM
